LUMIN® TRP roadshow showcases sustainable range to James Latham

Depot tour educates branches on plywood’s performance and environmental credentials

LUMIN®, a leading producer of sustainable plywood, has partnered with James Latham to deliver a roadshow of its LUMIN TRP (Tropical Replacement Panel) plywood. Visiting all 10 Latham panel depots across the UK and Ireland, the roadshow educated sales staff on the benefits of LUMIN TRP and why it presents a long term, sustainable alternative to traditional tropical hardwoods.

Hosted throughout October and November, the roadshow events have seen John Guerin, European Director, LUMIN, meet more than 100 depot staff to share the environmental and performance benefits of LUMIN TRP.

“James Latham closely align with our own values, making them a strategic partner to drive LUMIN TRP plywood forward,” commented Guerin. “The roadshow was the ideal opportunity to present the evolution of TRP, especially its contribution to sustainability and the Net Zero agenda, as well as share our vision for the future.”

Manufactured from 100% FSC® certified Eucalyptus Grandis grown on sustainably managed plantations in Uruguay, LUMIN TRP has been developed in consultation with distribution partners around the world.

James Latham engaged with early research and development and is a strategic partner in taking LUMIN TRP forward.

Luke Bell, Product Manager for Hardwood Plywood at James Latham said: “Given the alignment of both company’s core values on sustainability and product integrity, it’s no wonder we have worked so well together for such a long period of time. The reaction and engagement from our teams across the UK has shown how much real potential this plywood has to offer.

“Traditionally, specific plywoods get used in particular applications, but we think LUMIN TRP will have something for everyone, be it a CE2+ structural accreditation, a 636-3s plywood specification, a need to comply with the Net Zero agenda or any number of other reasons. It’s a great, sustainable all-rounder.”

Widely specified in commercial and residential construction including applications where surface finishing is important and a multitude of other end uses, LUMIN TRP is available in a range of grades. Since its initial launch in 2021, market feedback has proven instrumental in LUMIN TRP development, with the product now supplied in 5.5mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm and 21mm thicknesses.

All LUMIN TRP panels are structurally certified to CE2+, UKCA backed by Element BV / TRADA. Products also conform to the IHPA grading rules and other international quality assurance schemes.

Regardless of grade, LUMIN TRP plywood is manufactured to EN 314-2 – Bonding Class 3 (exterior) and meets the attestation of conformity EN 636-3 (structural, humid conditions).

Underpinned by the LUMIN brand and values, LUMIN TRP is the product of a committed journey to provide the wood products industry with a sustainable, long-term solution to dwindling supplies of high-grade plywood.

With close to €40 million USD investment on the first TRP mill, and plans announced for a further €140 million investment to increase volumes significantly by 2026, LUMIN continues to demonstrate commitment to the development and supply of sustainable plywood solutions.
