Combined with beautiful aesthetics, LUMIN TRP compares well in technical properties and features to many of the tropical species.
Introduction
LUMIN TRP is produced from 100% plantation grown pruned Eucalyptus Grandis. The pruning process completed during the growth phase of the tree ensures very limited defects in the final veneer. This is a hardwood plywood that looks and performs very similar to tropical species, and critically has product and forest certification to back up its strong credentials. This includes EN 13986 (CE2+), for use in construction and structural applications in Europe, certified by Element BV (Netherlands) and BS EN 13986:2004 + A1:2015 (UKCA) certified by BM TRADA (UK). LUMIN TRP also complies with the E1 standard for emissions in Europe, adheres to the air quality standards required by the California Air Resource Board (CARB) and complies with the emission of formaldehyde required by the US EPA TSCA Title VI. Finally, the TRP product range underpins our commitment to responsible forest management and 100% of our forest plantations are FSC® certified (License Number FSC-C162602) and utilizing thin peel technology also allows better optimization of eucalyptus grandis logs.
The use of Eucalyptus Grandis results in TRP panels with a rich pink/red coloured wood that is sought after in many markets and is aesthetically similar to scarce high-end tropical species such as Meranti and Okoume.
Grading
LUMIN is a member of the IWPA and grades LUMIN according to the commonly recognised global IHPA grading rules for imported plywood, with some proprietary differences arising from utilizing eucalyptus species:
TRP – B/BB
There are no significant defects allowed on the faces of the panels. Minor defects are skilfully repaired with colour matched filler. Very minor core voids and end splits are allowed and skilfully repaired.
Face: 180-grit sanded with minimal synthetic repairs and up to 3 repaired minor splits* per edge not more than 4mm width by 400mm long.
Back: 180-grit sanded with minimal synthetic repairs and up to 6 repaired minor splits per edge not more than 6mm width by 600mm long.
Species: 100% Eucalyptus grandis
Dimensions: 1.22m x 2.44m / 1.22m x 2.5m
*Splits are characteristics that occur at the end of panels, running parallel to the grain and varying in acceptable width and length based on grade.

TRP – HARDWOOD BC
There are minimal repaired defects allowed on the face. Minor defects such as splits, and knots are skilfully repaired with colour matched filler. The back face permits some open defects.
Face:180-grit touch-sanded with minimal acrylic patching and up to 6 repaired splits* per edge not more than 10mm wide by 800mm long (fully repaired and sanded).
Back: 180-grit touch-sanded allowing open defects including splits and knot holes up to 38mm (max. 4) and up unlimited knot holes <25mm diameter. Species: 100% Eucalyptus grandis
Dimensions: 1.22m x 2.44m / 1.22m x 2.5m
*Splits are characteristics that occur at the end of panels, running parallel to the grain and varying in acceptable width and length based on grade.
